please remember that even though father’s day is sunday, not everyone has a good relationship with their dad. no one is required to forgive a parent for hurting them. no one is required to love a parent just because they are related by blood. forgiveness is not required for peace of mind and if you guilt someone for expressing their hate for their dad on the 21st, you deserve to be punched in the face.
The Blackfish Effect: “Finding Dory’s” movie plot changed after the film
The setting of “Finding Dory,” the long-awaited sequel to “Finding Nemo,” has been revealed to be the Marine Biology Institute of California, thanks in part to “Blackfish.”
Pixar President Jim Morris confirmed the news at a recent comic book convention in Brazil. The institute is where Dory was born, and she travels back to the site of birth to learn more about her “fry-hood” and family. The park is described as “a huge rehabilitation complex for marine and aquarium life.” Apparently, Dory was born there, but was released back into the ocean at a young age.
The scenario is similar to one that “Blackfish” director Gabriela Cowperthwaite hopes SeaWorld would adopt following the resignation of SeaWorld CEO Jim Atchison.
That’s not a coincidence.
According to the New York Times, the ending of the film was reworked in light of the damning documentary to ensure that sea creatures have the ability to leave the aquarium when they want to. Early speculation had the plot of “Finding Dory” being set at an aquatic park akin to SeaWorld.
The tweak to the script is a good one, and we applaud Pixar for making the change, especially when young minds will not doubt be influenced by the film. (Also, we can’t help but think that animal lover and vegan, Ellen DeGeneres, is far more comfortable with the new premise).
“Finding Dory” swims into theatres on June 17, 2016.
